Simple by design
Four steps. That's all.
Sending money with Marung feels less like online banking and more like sending a message.
Pick any mobile number
You type in the number of the person receiving money. That's the whole address — no account numbers, no branch codes, no card details to get wrong.
Confirm from your bank
In the proposed service, approved bank and payment partners would support funding. No bank connection is live in this demonstration.
Receive and retain money
The proposed Cloud Wallet retains received money as a digital balance, ready for future use rather than immediate withdrawal.
They use it their way
Send from the wallet, pay a merchant and view transaction history. Payment rails, merchant acceptance and any future cash-out access require approved partners.
Any bank can join — that's the point
Marung is bank-neutral: FNB, Standard Bank, ABSA, Nedbank, Capitec and others each have their own send-to-cellphone service. One wallet, whichever bank the money comes from. Each bank's integration depends on its own commercial and technical agreement.
Safe on every send
You confirm before money moves
Every send shows the exact amount and number first. Nothing happens until you say yes.
Any phone, even without data
Basic-phone access through USSD is proposed. No dial-in code or USSD service is live.
A record for every rand
Both sides get a reference number. If something looks wrong, you can trace it back.
See it for yourself
